An interweaving of views that from different perspectives stimulates Butoh as a performative culture, corporeal thinking and intermedial artistic practice. Some of the major Butoh scholars will contribute from different parts of the world. These scholars investigated Butoh in its multiple aspects, considering its performing arts background and its context of theater cultures in the Twentieth Century. Central to the discourse are: the border between theory and practice, Butoh’s dialogue with different artistic languages and its being on the edge between action, representation and writing. From the image as a matrix of the body, to the image that fixes its presence/absence, this meeting focuses on the body and its imageries, and addresses the political, performative and dancing body.
